The brand pays homage to its beginnings with a name reflecting its original factory location in one of the city’s districts. Known for its blend of Eastern and Western influences, District Eight creates furniture that harmoniously combines traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics.
Their latest venture, a collaboration with the Milan-based studio studioutte, has resulted in the striking LIMEN collection. This partnership, sparked by a mutual appreciation for understated elegance and cultural nuance, led to the development of a collection that is both simple and profound. The LIMEN tables, described by studioutte as “an homage to a radical timeless elegance, suspended between Orientalism and a minimalistic approach,” are crafted to integrate into elevated interior settings seamlessly.
The design process for LIMEN involved a deep exploration of materials and form. According to studioutte, “LIMEN is a collection that is developed on the concept of portal, simple shapes and their stratification. The cultured anonymous expressiveness is mitigated by the presence of metal elements as the only ‘non-detail’ and ignited by the choice of padouk, an exotic wood with a very recognizable expressiveness.” This approach highlights their dedication to blending refined exotic wood with raw metal inserts, creating pieces that are both sturdy and aesthetically striking.
