Founded in 2022, WEED’D is redefining the aesthetic and functional landscape of cannabis accessories. What began as an idea on a road trip through Calabria became a bold mission to create well-designed, premium smoking products that integrate seamlessly into modern lifestyles. “In the U.S., legalization led to a new wave of high-end cannabis accessories,” explains founder Stefano Aschieri. “Meanwhile, in Europe, the market was stuck in the past—either purely functional or cheaply made. I wanted to create something different, something you’d proudly display rather than hide.”
That vision materialized into a carefully curated collection designed by some of Italy’s leading industrial designers. Collaborators like Simone Bonanni, who is now WEED’D Design, Director Valerio Sommella, Maddalena Casadei, CARA / DAVIDE, Attila Veress, and Gabriele Chiave, brought their expertise in furniture, lighting, and product design to an industry that had never seen this level of craftsmanship before. “We prioritize expertise and credibility,” says Aschieri. “We’re not just designing smoking accessories; we’re elevating the category as a whole.”
At the heart of the WEED’D collection are its bongs, striking objects that challenge traditional perceptions. “A bong shouldn’t be something you shove in a drawer after use; it should be an object you’re proud to display,” Aschieri explains. The design process follows a meticulous balance between structure and creative freedom. While designers work within strict dimensions and a defined color palette, they have full freedom to explore form, materials, and detail. “We iterate obsessively—3D printing prototypes, testing airflow, refining proportions—until every piece is both functional and aesthetically forward-thinking.”
One of the biggest challenges was working with ceramics, an entirely new material for Aschieri. “Ceramics present unique technical difficulties—from fragility during production to balancing thickness, weight, and durability,” he shares. The breakthrough came when WEED’D partnered with a renowned ceramic artisan in Nove, Vicenza, a region known for its deep-rooted ceramics tradition. Together, they refined glazing techniques, finishing methods, and shaping processes to create bongs that are as durable as they are beautiful. “Made in Italy isn’t just a label for us—it’s a process (…) every detail is perfected to set a new standard for cannabis accessories.”
But WEED’D is more than just a product brand; it’s a cultural movement. “We’re pushing boundaries—not just in design, but in where and how cannabis exists in culture”. In 2024, WEED’D placed cannabis in major museums like SFMOMA, curated an art exhibition for Solomostry in NYC, and even had a custom bong walk the runway at Fashion Week with Eckhaus Latta. Looking ahead, WEED’D has major projects lined up for Milan Design Week, unexpected collaborations, and a continued effort to position cannabis accessories alongside the finest industrial design objects.
“We don’t just want to design better bongs,” says Aschieri. “We want to change the conversation around cannabis—integrating it into the worlds of art, design, and fashion in ways that have never been done before.”
