Berlin-based design studio EDER is carving out a unique space in the world of furniture and interiors. Founded in 2023 by two friends united by their passion for craftsmanship and contemporary design, EDER operates with a philosophy that blends functionality, personal connection, and timeless quality. Their creative playground in Kreuzberg, Berlin sets the stage for conceptual exploration, while their workshop in Mariendorf transforms ideas into reality through meticulous craftsmanship.
“EDER’s design language is clean and refined, defined by clear lines, delicate details, and striking colours that create a strong visual presence,” explain founders Maximilian Herriger and Kati Brunk. Each design emerges from a thoughtful exploration of materials and techniques, ensuring a seamless fit for the spaces they design for. What sets EDER apart is their dedication to the process. “Continuous refinement is key, whether it’s testing new fittings, exploring material qualities, or adjusting proportions until they feel just right. It’s about creating intentional pieces with a clear sense of purpose and character.”
One standout creation from EDER’s collection is the FLIP shelf. Inspired by mid-century modular wall shelves, FLIP combines the nostalgia of vinyl and magazine displays with modern functionality. “We wanted to offer flexibility without requiring additional parts or purchases,” they share. The solution? A reversible shelf board that can switch seamlessly between a regular shelf and a display unit, making FLIP a versatile addition to living spaces or modern offices.
“Aesthetics and functionality are never separate; they are woven together from start to finish.” This philosophy is evident in the FLIP shelf’s clean lines and vibrant hues, with carefully curated colours like Horizon Blue and Forest Green adding personality and distinction. EDER’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its use of certified wood and a design focus on durability and repairability.
