Massproductions, known for its modernist and functional furniture designs, introduced the Woodwerk chair at the 3daysofdesign event in Copenhagen in June 2024. The company, established in 2009 by Chris Martin and Magnus Elebäck, has a reputation for controlling every aspect of its production process to maintain quality and design integrity.
The Woodwerk chair tackles the challenge of integrating curved backrests with angular wooden frames. Made entirely from solid beech using advanced 5-axis CNC machinery, the chair showcases a seamless blend of craftsmanship and technology. “It’s like craft but from robots,” remarks Martin, highlighting the efficiency and precision of this method, which also supports environmental sustainability by minimizing waste. The chair is set to be launched in September 2024.
The MMMTV Exhibition was created as a tribute to the 90s television culture that has influenced many of Massproductions’ designs. At the same event, Massproductions presented the MMMTV Exhibition. This installation, inspired by 90s television culture, featured a nostalgic VHS-based display. Visitors could relax on the adaptable Patch sofa system, enjoying a unique fusion of comfort and retro aesthetics. Magnus Elebäck pointed out the exhibition’s reflection on the freedom of VHS, emphasizing the comfort and flexibility it brought to home entertainment.
Massproductions continues to push the boundaries of design, ensuring their products are both innovative and practical. The Woodwerk chair and MMMTV Exhibition exemplify their commitment to creating high-quality, thoughtfully designed furniture.
