Soft lines, solid wood, and decisive design elements are the hallmarks of Intarsia Furniture. Each piece embodies the Danish aesthetic—humble yet elevated, beautiful to look at and pleasant to touch. This blend of simplicity and elegance leaves us eager to see the brand’s future collections.
Intarsia Furniture is the modern reincarnation of “Møbelintarsia,” founded in 1948 by Jørgen and Lis Aakjær Jørgensen. This dynamic couple built a family business renowned for its high-quality craftsmanship. Nearly 75 years later, their granddaughter, Nanna Aakjær Svendsen, revives the brand, merging traditional carpentry with contemporary trends.
Today, Intarsia Furniture creates high-quality, stylish furniture and unlike brands chasing fleeting trends, Intarsia Furniture takes a holistic approach, creating cohesive series that form a harmonious whole. “It is important that our partners share the same values and are dedicated to the highest standards,” says Nanna Aakjær Svendsen.
Nanna has navigated challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic and economic crises to establish Intarsia Furniture in Denmark, now featured in 25 high-end furniture stores. A pivotal moment came when Nanna convinced investors on the Danish TV program ‘Løvens Hule’ (Dragon’s Den) to back her brand, sparking significant momentum and international interest.
“The next step is to become an international brand,” says Nanna. Her vision aligns with her grandfather’s legacy, who exported 80% of his products abroad. Intarsia Furniture is poised for global expansion, blending tradition with modernity to create timeless pieces that stand the test of time.
