Heymat Transforms Doormats into Design Statements

It’s fascinating how a mundane object like a doormat can be transformed into something unique, full of character, and undeniably personal. Typically, doormats are bland and uninspiring, but think about it – a doormat is essentially your home’s handshake, the first thing guests see when they arrive and the last thing they notice when they leave. First and last impressions are crucial, and Heymat understands this better than anyone. They’ve elevated the humble doormat into an art form, ensuring it makes a statement right at your doorstep

The Norwegian brand has turned this everyday item into a statement piece. Founded by Sonja Djønne and Thoralf Lian in stunning Northern Norway, Heymat brings together industrial expertise and a passion for design. With generations of experience in cleaning and renting industrial mats, Thoralf’s practical knowledge combined with Sonja’s design enthusiasm birthed a product that’s both functional and stylish.

Since launching its first collection in 2016, Heymat has collaborated with top Norwegian designers to create a variety of collections. Their mats are not just durable and easy to maintain, thanks to high-quality materials and industrial-grade standards, but they also bring a touch of Scandinavian elegance to any entrance. Each mat is crafted from recycled materials, staying true to Heymat’s commitment to sustainability.

The Heymat X Sight Unseen Iconic Women Collection is their latest launch. This collection, a collaboration with design magazine Sight Unseen, features two indoor mats with abstract compositions inspired by iconic female designers of the 20th century. These mats, available in various sizes and colorways, are designed to handle high foot traffic while adding a decorative touch to your home.

Heymat’s success speaks for itself, with products now available across Europe, Asia, and the U.S. They continue to innovate, bringing new, flexible solutions like the Zen carpet tiles, based on their award-winning Sand mat. With a firm belief in quality, design, and sustainability, Heymat is redefining what a doormat can be.
