For Goodesign founder Emmanuel Popoteur, design has always been a natural language. “I’ve always thought about furniture and architecture,” he reflects, though it took time to gain the confidence to bring his ideas to life. His journey into design wasn’t shaped by formal education but by raw intuition, curiosity, and an obsession with how things work. “My design faucet is always running,” he says. “I finally have the confidence and determination to make my ideas a reality.”
His creative path began early—first with video and skateboarding, then transitioning into clothing design at 13 with a self-funded heat press. But it was his first furniture piece, a PVC chair that went viral online, that truly ignited his passion. “That chair gave me more fulfillment than anything I had ever done,” he explains. It was a pivotal moment, proving that design could be both personal and impactful.
This philosophy led to the founding of Goodesign—a brand born from the desire to create furniture that enhances daily life, not just gallery spaces. “I want people to truly experience & live with my work” he says. He personally experienced the power of intentional spaces when redesigning his own room at 20—a transformation that changed his mindset and lifted him out of depression.
Goodesign operates on a system-based approach, with collections following distinct materials and modular configurations. “The goal is to be so seamless & intuitive that the designs go unnoticed,” he notes. Unlike traditional design houses that chase after novelty, Goodesign is built for longevity. “In 2025, many new systems will be released, and once introduced, they will be produced for the next 100 years—maybe even longer.”
For Goodesign, design is not just about aesthetics—it’s about harmony, form, and function working together effortlessly. “People will grow with the pieces and live with Goodesign,” he concludes.
